Extension that highlights key letters in bold
Half Bold is a free e-reader for improving the focus of users with ADHD and dyslexia. It’s based on Renato Casutt’s Bionic Reading method wherein half of the text is bolded for easier reading and processing of words. However, the extension does not work on Google Docs or PDF files.
Become a faster reader
As the name implies, Half Bold highlights some of the letters in boldface to improve your focus when reading long news articles for school or work. In this way, you can read faster while still being able to comprehend the knowledge you’ve acquired from the text.
Sadly, the extension is unusable if you want to read—for example—journal articles in PDF. Headers and other web elements also disappear when enabled, making it difficult for users to navigate certain web pages—not to mention that reloading a page automatically disables the extension.
Helpful, but has its limitations
Overall, Half Bold is a great tool to include in your e-reader arsenal. It boosts focus and reading speed without sacrificing comprehension, which is perfect for users who read lengthy articles. What’s disappointing about this extension is its lack of support for PDF content.
